Pretty stone and whitewashed cottages surrounding village greens and a magnificent church make Bolton by Bowland one of the most attractive and picturesque villages in the Ribble Valley.
Bolton by Bowland was first recorded in the Domesday Book in 1087.
The village boasts a School, a Cricket Club, a Drama Group and a thriving Village Hall, which is popular for events of all kinds.
The Open Gardens weekend is a highlight of the summer when many interesting gardens within the parish attracts visitors from around the area.
There are two village greens, one of which houses the remains of the 13th century market cross and stocks and is bordered by the beautifully maintained Memorial Garden.
Regular worship continues in the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul. There is documentary evidence of a Church in the village in 1190. This imposing building attracts many visitors and is an always-open sanctuary for those wishing to find peace and tranquillity.
